There are three types of honey bees, the queen, drones, and workers.
The queen is from the same type of egg as a worker bee is, they are both fertilized eggs. The only difference is that the queen egg is fed royal jelly, a purer version of honey, while the worker egg is fed honey. The eggs that drones are from are different, they are unfertilized eggs.
Each type of bee has it’s own job in the hive, and some outside of the hive:
The queen’s job is to lay all the bee eggs of the colony. There is only one queen per colony.
There are many drones in the hive, though not nearly as many as worker bees. The drone’s job is to leave the hive during the day and fertilize virgin queens.
Worker bees have seven main jobs:
1-Janitor, these workers keep the hive clean
2-Forager, these are the workers that leave the hive and bring back The Bee’s Food
3-Guard, these ones stay at the entrance of the hive and keep out unwanted bees or pests
4-Nurse, these feed and take care of the Honey Bee Brood
5-Air Conditioners, these workers also stay at the hive entrance and fan their wings to keep the hive at the desired temperature
6-Queen Attendants, they feed and groom the queen bee
7-And Architect, these bees build cells on the Frames and make Propolis
